Love’s A Game

Love’s
a game,
where
you get to
win,
like classic checkers
or
the time
you
forced your Queen
into
my
King’s
black square
box.
Or,
the time
you
let
me win,
and
gave way to my
smile
and gaze
without
effort.
Love’s
a
game,
and I’m
here
to
lose often,
even
if it means
you
get to dream
closer
to
me,
or
I get to wedge
myself
in
between
your legs
just
a few
more times.

Like The Time

Remember
the time
we
lounged
around
like Serengeti
cats,
scratching
at
our past lives,
and
chasing
down
a
few lunch
dates?
Remember
the
moment
we first
danced
without
moving,
as
we let the night
just
collapse,
and a
fall
around us like
loose
sheets?
I remember
the
time I
saw
poetry on
your skin,
and
had
every opportunity
to
explore
every
syllable.

Here

Here
I am,
just cutting
and
pasting my
way
through
your narrow channels,
filling
in
like loose
dirt
and rubble
too
wide
to
fit otherwise.

I’m
here,
and falling
into
what
we call love,
and
letting go
of the things
that
give
us too much
weight,
like
a mountain
does
after
a long
rainy season.

Look,
we’re here,
and
full
of the things
of youth,
so
before you step
too
far from me,
let’s
first figure
out
how to get you
out
of
these loose
clothes.
