Like You Do

photo2

We
get to slum
along,
with
wide eyes,
and closed
lips,
like a good wind
does
after
she’s
given way to
an
even less
worn out
day.

We
also get
to fall
deeper
and deeper
into a world
of make-believe,
and
pirate ships
that sail
to and fro,
like a
feather does
when she’s
just
plain tired
of being too
plain
tired.

What
this poet means
to
say
is
that
you give too
much
of yourself
to us,
and when
the
time comes,
and
just like you
do,
I’m
gonna draw
up
these curtains
to
soak
in all
of your
beauty.
