On Being Sorry

pic

Last
time
we spoke,
I
felt
like
we
had
left the
world
behind,
with
caution
to
the breeze,
and
with
everything
diced and
sliced
in
front
of us.

Last
time
we spoke,
you
were
also
sorry,
and
I cringed
at
the
thought
of
our days
falling
like
leaves to
a
damp
Earth
below.

Last time
we
spoke, all
the
hours
and minutes
of the
day simply
ignored
our
calls,
and made
other
arrangements
for
the
day.

I’m
sorry too.
