Oliver Wendell Holmes once wrote that, “A word is not a crystal, transparent and unchanged, it is the skin of a living thought and may vary greatly in color and content according to the circumstances and the time in which it is used.”
So, we may not always get it right, or say the right words in their fashionable order, but the one thing we can truly get is the character in how we design those words. It is the layering and weaving of our words that give us flight and the freedom to affect change.
We can also study the details in between our words, that draw us closer and with even greater wisdom than ever. We are afforded great opportunity to live and learn through our words, and the people in our lives that give us comfort to those words.
I love you. I miss you. I need you.
We’ve always been there.
