If We Should Happen To Fail

Often,
the sun
forces us
to find
deep
darkness,
but let us
ignore
all protocols and the such
and
face the door
that
led us here
in the first place.

Let us grab at stars
and make
believe them
to
be lighting bugs;
confined
yellow and green
florescence
bickering
against
the night
sky.
Let us find ourselves
lost,
and in between
loose
words like Moses
felt
on
a good day
before the chaos.

Let us get
ourselves
in a frenzy
and
dare Athena
to challenge
our
love.

I’m certain
she’s wrong
anyway.

It’s no fault
that
we’ve
failed
at this
thing called
love,
but I’m
giving my
last
breath
to
give way
to this door that
holds
us
in her
tight grip.
